Build. Program. Compete.
Peddie’s Robotics Club offers a unique and exciting opportunity to dive headfirst into the world of Robotics. Our three student subteams (Engineering, Programming, Finance & Marketing) work in tandem with adult mentors and corporate sponsors. Under strict rules, limited resources and tight deadlines, you and your teammates will collaborate to build and program a 120-lb. robot to compete at the FIRST Robotics Competition.
FIRST is the oldest and largest student robotics program in the world, and the FIRST Championship is a highly competitive dual event, held in both Houston and St. Louis, and drawing 65,000 attendees from over 39 countries.
The team works out of the Izzo Design Laboratory – a state-of-the-art, 3,400-square-foot building built for robotics. The engineering lab features advanced fabrication capabilities, including a CNC mill, CNC laser and 3D printer, while the upper floor serves as a robotics practice field.
Coral Reef Surveys and Terrapin Nesting Project
For her Summer Signature project, Nicole Stillwell '20 spent two-and-a-half weeks in the British Virgin Islands at a marine biology camp learning advanced diving skills and participating in clean-ups, coral reef surveys and research. At home she continued her journey by working at the Terrapin Nesting Project in Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where she helped care for terrapins and researched methods for protecting them from the changing environment. She then brought terrapins to school for continued research and exploration and to spread awareness.
