As part of the Visiting Writer series supported by the Chilton Fund for Creative Writing at Peddie, the Peddie English Department invites all to a presentation by poet, educator and performer Denice Frohman.
Frohman is a CantoMundo Fellow, former Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion and National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures grant recipient.
Her poems have appeared in The Adroit Journal, Nepantla: An Anthology for Queer Poets of Color, Women of Resistance: Poems for a New Feminism, and garnered over 10 million views online. She's featured on national and international stages including The Apollo, The White House, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and over 200 colleges and universities.
Samples of work:
- "Accents" (read by Bryanna Mendez in Chapel earlier this year)
- "A Woman's Place" (published in the Women of Resistance: Poems for a New Feminism anthology). A shorter version is online as part of the Twitter #HereWeAre campaign, and the longer full-length version is also available on Button Poetry's Youtube Channel.
- "A Queer Girl's Ode to the Piraguero"
Two Peddie students will be opening for Frohman with their own slam poetry performances.
Frohman will meet with Creative Writing Club and Latinx Club students earlier in the day.
