The Peddie boys' swimming team earned its third-straight Eastern Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championship, scoring 550 points over the two-day meet at Franklin and Marshall's Kunkel Aquatic Center. The Falcons outdistanced runner-up Phillips Academy by 50 points.
Peddie boys' swimming leads after day one action at the 2017 Eastern Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. The Falcons sit atop the leaderboard with 318 points, followed by Phillips Andover Academy in second with 263 points and Haverford School in third with 248.50. On the girls' side of the ledger, Peddie holds the eighth postion with 156.50 points.
Peddie dominated qualifying in the boys' 200-yard medley relay as juniors Michael Blank, Joe Black, Noah Houskeeper and Nathan Stern touched in 1:30.27, lowering the 1992 mark of 1:31.10 by Mercersburg Academy. The Falcon boys ended the morning swims with another scorching first-place seed in a relay as Stern, Blank, Trey Ike '19 and Black clocked a 1:22.39 in the 200 free relay, under the meet standard of 1:22.61 set by Peddie last season (Stern, Blank, Black, Jared Fitzgerald '17).
The 117th Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships are set for Friday, Feb. 24 through Saturday, Feb. 25. Easterns, with its exciting balance of great traditions and fast swimming, will make its first visit to Franklin and Marshall's Kunkel Aquatic Center in Lancaster, Pa.
