Izzo Design Laboratory

The Izzo Design Laboratory is a space where students come together to visualize and create as a team.

The maker space represents Peddie's commitment to STEM education and interdisciplinary learning. It's home to coursework in engineering, mechanical design and manufacturing and to our Robotics Team, which competes in national and international competitions.

The Izzo Design Laboratory includes:

  • A design studio featuring 17 workstations loaded with computer-aided design software.
  • An engineering studio with professional equipment, including a CNC laser, mill, router and lathe, as well as 3D printers.
  • Lab tables for group work.
  • A spacious testing studio.

Peddie Robotics Team

The Peddie Robotics Team participates in the FIRST Robotics Competition. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international organization which uses competitive robotics as a vehicle for promoting science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources and time limits, teams build and program a 120-lb. robot to compete in an open-ended design challenge. Peddie's Robotics Team designs and builds the robot during the winter term, and attends local and international competitions during the spring term.

The beauty of the Fab Lab is that there aren't any limits on what you can produce. But no matter what we're making, we're working across disciplines, using industry-standard tools and adjusting to new information and new technologies. Scott Meredith,
