Visual Arts Foundations

Projects in drawing, collage, painting, and sculpture encourage meaningful self-expression for both the novice and experienced art student. While building technical skills and an understanding of color, composition, and other design fundamentals, students work both from imagination and observation.  Longer projects include the creation of a Protest Painting, in which students express their personal views surrounding a current topic of social or political concern, and a Family Sculpture, in which they use simple materials to build an abstract representation of family.

The following two assignments are samples of completed class projects (Click on images to enlarge and scroll through).
