Bob Werner is an exemplary choice for Peddie’s Sports Hall of Fame. He was an extraordinary athlete during his tenure at Peddie and later provided leadership as a member of the Peddie Board of Trustees.
Bob earned six varsity letters in three sports - football, wrestling, and baseball at Peddie. He excelled in two sports - wrestling and baseball. Bob received state recognition competing in AAU meets in wrestling and was unquestionably destined for a 1st place finish when an injury - suffered in a meet against Admiral Farragut Academy in his senior year - finished him as a contender.
In baseball, Bob was awarded the Most Valuable Player Plaque by Peddie's Varsity Baseball Coach and Athletic Director William Thompson. And another special note - Bob was elected to the Newark Star Ledger’s Baseball All-Star Team in 1953.
Bob went on to wrestle at Colgate University and made himself well known there too. Bob represents the best in Peddie athletics.
