Theater

You'll thrive on the Peddie stage.

Our instructors - who are theater professionals - teach a wide range of courses and electives and activities sure to engage any individual with an interest in performance. Beyond taking a theater class during your freshman year, there are a variety of elective course offerings and extra-curricular opportunities in which you can further develop your craft. Prefer to work behind-the-scenes? You can learn the ropes with professional stage managers, set designers, and lighting and soundboard technicians.

Our theater department stages multiple productions, including two plays, two musicals, a series of one-acts, a Public Speaking Competition and a Declamation contest each year, giving you plenty of chances to experience the world of live performance in a variety of forms. Our proximity to Broadway serves as a two-way street; not only can you attend plays regularly in New York City (and Princeton!), but you'll also learn from visiting actors, directors, musicians and producers each year.

2019-2020 Performances

The Wolves

The Wolves - Fall Play 2019

A contemporary play with an all-female cast, The Wolves is a window into powerful and complex team dynamics. The cast worked with the varsity girls soccer team to inform their performance.

Willy Wonka

Freshman Musical 2019 - Willy Wonka

A all-school favorite, the Freshman Musical class is open to all freshmen in the fall term at Peddie. It is an intentionally simple production with a cast traditionally made up of both experienced thespians and first-time performers.

1776

1776

Cast in a fresh, non-traditional fashion free of gender or racial barriers, 1776 created a brand new take on a classical musical with a vitally important narrative about the founding of the United States of America.
