Ladies Night

What better way to celebrate Women’s History Month than with a Peddie event that expressly celebrates women – especially when it’s the inaugural We Soar: Peddie Women’s Network event?

On Monday, March 27, a group of 25 enthusiastic Peddie alumnae joined students and faculty for family-style dinner at the dining hall within the Finn Caspersen Campus Center.

Family-style dinner, a longstanding Peddie tradition, gave visiting alumnae the chance to reminisce about their Peddie experiences and inspire students by sharing their post-Peddie life path. The group also connected before and after the event.

Head of School Peter Quinn and Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Shannon Madden ’13 welcomed the group, then gave the mic to We Soar Co-Chairs Johára Tucker ’00 and Alison Dorsey ’00, who expressed their excitement at the chance for alumnae and students to get to know each other with a meal and good conversation.

At dinner, questions and stories flowed easily — and with a good amount of humor — as the group munched fries, steak, and lentils with farro, and enjoyed each other’s company.

Alumnae learned what students are studying and their extracurricular activities; students learned the industries in which alumnae are engaged. All discussed Peddie’s family style-dinner itself. (Overheard: “The food is better now than when I was a student.” “When I was a student, every meal was family-style!”)

We Soar, established in 2022, offers Peddie women opportunities to connect, both personally and professionally. It’s open to those who identify as women or feminine-of-center (cisgender, transgender and/or non-binary) and welcomes alumnae, current and former faculty and parents.
