The Peddie Arts Center Expansion project was officially launched during the Twilight Festival on Thursday, May 20. A celebration of the arts, the evening began with a visual arts exhibition in Swig Arts Center followed by a groundbreaking ceremony. As evening fell, participants were serenaded by the first in-person music concert of the year in Swig courtyard.
Construction will take place in three phases: first, the installation of underground piping and drainage, followed by a renovation of the existing Swig Arts Center. Finally a new performance venue will be constructed between Swig and Geiger Reeves Theater. The Arts Center Expansion project is expected to be completed by August 2022.
"The project is both challenging and exciting," said Michael McKitish, Assistant Head for Finance and Operations. "It will result in the realization of a long-needed expansion and improvement to Peddie's arts facilities."
