Prerequisite: Students should have taken a year of chemistry and a year of biology. Students taking AP Environmental should not take this course.
This introductory course offers students an insight to key areas in environmental science. Topics will include pressing environmental concerns, use of resources, and ethical issues. There will be an emphasis on hands-on activities and laboratory work, case studies and discussions. Students should expect to be involved in outdoor field studies. The course offers an interdisciplinary approach which includes biology, earth science, chemistry, human population dynamics, and ethics. Topics may include climate change, agriculture impact, clean energy, ecosystems, and green politics.
NOTE: Students taking AP Environmental should not take this course.
