Advanced Topics in Chemistry

Terms: 3
Grades: 11,12,PG

Advanced Topics in Chemistry provides a more comprehensive overview of Chemistry that investigates topics not typical for our introductory chemistry course for freshmen.  It is also designed for students who have transferred to Peddie and have not yet studied Chemistry or who have taken Chem Comm at Peddie and would like to undertake a more mathematically rigorous study of Chemistry before embarking on an undergraduate study of science or engineering. This course is perfect for a student who is not able to take AP Chem, but plans to take science courses in college.  Through inquiry-based learning, students will investigate how topics, such as gas laws, thermochemistry, colligative properties and equilibrium, relate to a real-world context.  The format of the class revolves around hands-on applications of experimental chemistry.
