Prerequisite: French III Honors or French IV and recommendation of the department
In this upper-level course, students continue to develop the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. This course requires a strong background in French. Students are expected to supplement their skills outside of class by reading current events, listening to French and communicating with their classmates. The course will cover a broad range of themes such as beauty, technology, environmental issues, family and community life, education, and racism in the Francophone world. Students will prepare for the Advanced Placement language examination through oral and written activities that treat the above topics. Reading selections will range from poems and song lyrics, to articles and literature. Listening selections will range from songs to movie excerpts, from podcasts to current events from the French news. The class is conducted solely in French.
All students are required to take the AP French Language exam in May.
