Course Description

Mixed Media Workshop

Terms: 1 (not offered every term)
Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12, PG

Inspired by personal memories and dreams, fairy tales and current events, students will construct two-and three-dimensional artworks, experimenting with a wide range of materials, both traditional (watercolors, color pencils, wire, clay) and untraditional ("found objects" and recyclables, for example). Among the projects we may undertake are an imaginative mask, an artist's book, a colorful mobile, and an autobiographical installation. This class is a great next step for a student who has taken Drawing, Painting or Sculpture, but no previous experience is required — just a willingness to be playful, thoughtful and resourceful as together we push the conventional boundaries of art.
