Substitution Rates in Anisoptera Along Latitudinal Gradients
I was a research intern at the American Museum of Natural History, studying entomology and genetic dragonfly behavior. We used substitution rates in the mitochondrial gene COI to represent the ten families within the dragonfly suborder Anisoptera. We wanted to research whether there was a correlation between substitution rates and latitude, which we used as a proxy for temperature.
I've learned that as long as you are driven and passionate, you can truly accomplish anything. Yasmeen Haruna '21
