Modeling and Analyzing the Impact of Urbanization Using Remote Sensing

I worked with Peddie faculty and learned how to apply remote sensing technology, specifically Google Earth Engine. Utilizing these skills, I was able to chart graphs for various pollutants, such as carbon monoxide and ozone, and vegetation in two developing regions, Chengdu (city in China) and Singapore. I then compared them to a large urban city center, New York. I analyzed the graphs and determined which pollutants released by developing cities negatively impact the environment and need to be further researched for improvement.

My signature experience was not only educational but also captivating. It taught me professionalism, self-motivation, and how rewarding it is to try new things. Isha Bhandaru ’21
