Investigating the Effect of the Dike Kokaral Dam on the Health of the Ecosystem Surrounding the Aral Sea from 2005 to 2010 Using Remote Sensing Techniques
The ecosystem surrounding the Aral Sea was significantly damaged by years of water loss and pollution, and a dam was constructed in 2005 by the Kazakstan government to revitalize the ecosystem. I explored how the construction of the dam impacted several ecosystem health indicators over a period of 5 years following the dam's construction.
Looking at the effects of the dam showed me that what we consider as beneficial might not be have a positive outcome that we anticipate. Howard Fung ’21
