Analyzing the Environmental Effects of the COVID-19 Lockdown in Tokyo and Beijing Using Remote Sensing
With little global and intercountry movement due to the unprecedented pandemic of COVID-19, the outlook of the world from an environmental perspective has also dramatically changed. Lower levels of aviation, car usage, and public transport usage has meant that pollutant emissions from sources such as petrol has decreased. By comparing the current levels of Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen Dioxide to the levels during the pre-pandemic world, I was able to judge whether simple tasks such as lowering car usage has a significant impact in decreasing pollutant emissions.
