Daniel Gredell ’23 Honored at Delaware Valley Awards Dinner

Daniel Gredell ’23 was honored at the 61st Annual George Wah Awards Dinner hosted by The Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.

Gredell was awarded a scholarship at the Princeton Marriott at Forrestal along with 20 other area high school football players.

“I’m very excited and very honored,” said Gredell, on his nomination. “Being a postgraduate wasn’t something that I was 100 percent sure of, but when I got here it was the right thing for me. Seeing my friends go off to college and myself still being in high school was kind of hard at times, but I knew I made the right decision.”

Head Coach Anthony Fontana said Gredell, a postgraduate offensive and defensive lineman, was a great leader in his one season as a Falcon.

“I wish I had 11 of him, I wish I could bring back 11 of him this year,” Fontana said. “Missing his physicality is going to be a really important piece. He gave full effort on every play while almost never missing a snap, which is pretty rare to come across."

At the conclusion of last season, Gredell was named first-team All-MAPL. He will be attending Lehigh University in the fall and will be playing football.

“I think he embodies what a football player is supposed to be, especially if you’re talking about a true ironman player who plays both ways,” Fontana said. “He brought a certain impact to the field that most other players didn’t.”
