Vasilis Capoyleas, research director and owner of the firm Phenometry, visited with the Multivariable Calculus class and with computer science/robotics students to talk about his work and career in mathematics and computer science. Capoyleas received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from NYU Courant Institute, and his undergraduate degree in computer science from Oxford. His many publications encompass mathematics, computational geometry and some with applications to robotics. His theoretical work in Computational Geometry has led to applications in a CAD product he has created, founding a company with two other computer scientists. Students were interested to learn that Dr. Capoyleas has an Erdos number of 2!
