Peddie Youth Camp is open to children entering Kindergarten through grade 3 (ages 5-9).

Peddie Youth Camp combines outdoor play with science, art and building activities under the guidance of our lead teachers and the wonderful outside groups like Mad Science and Bricks4Kidz.  Swim lessons (twice per week) and open swim are part of the weekly routine and are led by the staff from Peddie Aquatics in Peddie School’s beautiful indoor 35-meter pool.

Each week has a theme.  Each camp group – 24 campers – is led by a lead teacher, a teaching intern and 1-2 junior counselors all of whom bring energy and enthusiasm to our Youth Camp days.  There will be 24 spots each available in the K/1 group, the 2nd grade group and the 3rd grade group.

Lunch is provided in our air-conditioned dining hall.  Lots of choices abound and the Peddie Food Services staff takes great pride in addressing the likes and dislikes and nutritional needs of our campers.  Our PFS staff works with families year-round and is very comfortable creating a plan that works for children with special dietary needs.

The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.  Families who need extra time can sign up for Before-Care, After-Care or both – drop off can be as early as 7:30 a.m. and pickup can be as late as 5:30 p.m..

Summer Calendar

Each week at camp centers on a different them. Below are samples of themes-of-the-week from Summer 2017.

Week 1 - Bugs!
This class will introduce students to the realm of insects - learning about their fabulous flying, their unique eyesight and the way they defend themselves against predators.  Students will get to see how camouflage works and see the world from a bug's point of view.

Week 2 - Call of the Wild
All about Animals - teachs children about the incredible and diverse life in the animal kingdom.  Students learn how animals adapted to their different habitats with specialized feet, fur and feathers.  The children will step into the shoes of a naturalist as they create their own casts of animal tracks.

Week 3 - Dedective Science
Step into the role of dedective and see how forensic science plays an important role in solving crimes.  Find out if you would make a good witness when your observation skills are put to the test.

Week 4 - Stunt Planes and Flight
The Wright Brothers would be proud as we follow in their footsteps and learn the fundamental principals of flight. Build your very own "football" glider, a Delta Dart and your very own loop-flying stunt plane.
Week 5 - Science of Toys
Did you know that some toys work because of basic science principles?  Children will bounce balls and experiment with a magnetic spin wheel among other classic toys to discover the science of motion.

Week 6 - Slime Time!
Ooze into a gooey hour of sliming around!  In this program, we will explore, create and play with the most entertaining and useful molecule known to science.  Create some Slime and enter the Slime Olympics!
