The Peddie community congratulates the following award recipients:
BOYS’ BASKETBALL (Coach Chris Potash)
Andrew Simon ’05 - The John Plant Award is an individual trophy donated by the Class of 1926 in honor of the late Mr. John Plant, coach of basketball and Director of Athletics for many years. It is awarded to that member of the varsity basketball squad who best exemplifies the Peddie spirit in cooperation, sportsmanship and skill.
Stephen Bauer ’05 – The Alfred W. Lozier Basketball Award is named in honor of the longest tenured and winningest basketball coach in the history of The Peddie School. It is awarded to that graduating member of the boys’ basketball team who, during each of his years at Peddie, has made the greatest contribution to the basketball program.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL (Coach Sean Casey)
Crystal Goring ’05 and Bridgette Mitchell ’06 – Outstanding Player Award is a trophy given by The Peddie School to that member of the girls’ basketball team who has demonstrated excellence and mastery of the game.
Lindsay Woods ’05 – Coach’s Award is awarded annually to that player who best exemplifies sportsmanship, good citizenship, loyalty and commitment, and has used these qualities to contribute to the success of the girls’ basketball program.
SWIMMING (Coach Greg Wriede '95)
James Schwartz ’05 – The Robert I. Ballou Memorial Trophy is given in memory of Robert I. Ballou, Jr., coach of swimming at The Peddie School from 1966 to 1973. This award is presented annually to the male member of the swimming team who has exhibited the brotherhood, character, loyalty, sportsmanship and attitude which best typify the philosophy of athletics and life of Robert I. Ballou, Jr.
Ashley Bogosian ’05 - The Robert I. Ballou Memorial Trophy is given in memory of Robert I. Ballou, Jr., coach of swimming at The Peddie School from 1966 to 1973. This award is presented annually to the female member of the swimming team who has exhibited the brotherhood, character, loyalty, sportsmanship and attitude which best typify the philosophy of athletics and life of Robert I. Ballou, Jr.
Josh Charnin-Aker ’07 – The Clinton I. Sprout Swimming Cup is retained by The Peddie School and an individual trophy is given to the winner. It was given by five members of the 1954 swimming team in honor of Clinton I. Sprout, coach of swimming for 35 years and is awarded to the male swimmer for outstanding ability, loyalty and sportsmanship.
Amywren Miller ’07 - The Clinton I. Sprout Swimming Cup is retained by The Peddie School and an individual trophy is given to the winner. It was given by five members of the 1954 swimming team in honor of Clinton I. Sprout, coach of swimming for 35 years and is awarded to the female swimmer for outstanding ability, loyalty and sportsmanship.
Bryce Hillman ’07 – The 1954 Boys’ Team Trophy is awarded to that member of the boys’ team who has made the greatest improvement in swimming during the year.
Sinead O’Dwyer ’07 – The Girls’ Swimming Award is a trophy given by The Peddie School to the female swimmer who has made the greatest improvement in swimming during the year.
DIVING (Coach John Wilus)
Sara Kleinfelder ’05 – The Outstanding Diving Award is a trophy given annually by The Peddie School to that member of the diving team for outstanding contributions in diving through performance, loyalty, spirit and leadership.
Li-Ting Shen ’06 - Coach’s Award is awarded annually to that diver who best exemplifies sportsmanship, good citizenship, loyalty and commitment, and has used these qualities to contribute to the success of the diving program.
WRESTLING (Coach John Leonardis)
W. Mark Cornachio ’05 – The John Jones Award, given by the Team of 1970-71, is awarded to the most improved wrestler.
Andrew Jackson ’05 – The Robert L. Tifft Wrestling Trophy was given by the Class of 1953 in honor of Robert L. Tifft, coach of wrestling and is awarded each year to the outstanding wrestler.
INDOOR TRACK (Coach Mark Gartner ’84)
Rudy Clausen ’06 – The Robert Lawson Leadership Award, given by the Track Team of 1971, is awarded to that member of the Boys’ Track Team for his outstanding performance and attitude.
Courtney McCarthy ’06 - The Robert Lawson Leadership Award, given by the Track Team of 1971, is awarded to that member of the Girls’ Track Team for her outstanding performance and attitude.
Junn Omictin ’05 - Coach’s Award is awarded annually to that athlete who best exemplifies sportsmanship, good citizenship, loyalty and commitment and has used these qualities to contribute to the success of the Boys’ Track Team.
Sarah Guilbert ’07 - Coach’s Award is awarded annually to that athlete who best exemplifies sportsmanship, good citizenship, loyalty and commitment and has used these qualities to contribute to the success of the Girls’ Track Team.
