Affording Peddie

We believe that extraordinary students should be rewarded with extraordinary opportunities.

That's why, all the way back in 1921, Walter Annenberg was accepted and enrolled at Peddie, having been denied admission at other schools because of his religious and ethnic background. Peddie saw promise in him. Annenberg went on to lead one of America's most influential media empires. In 1993, he awarded Peddie the largest financial gift ever given to an independent boarding school, in large part to endow financial aid for deserving students.

At Peddie, we are committed to finding ways to help extraordinary students attend our school. Almost 40% of our students receive tuition assistance, including merit-based scholarships

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I afford a Peddie education?

At Peddie, we recognize that a Peddie education is a substantial investment in your child's future. Financial need should never discourage a student from applying for admission.

  • We believe that each family will fund the child's education to the extent that they are able, and our financial aid program is designed to aid families after they have considered their own resources.
  • We offer tuition assistance with awards ranging from $1,000 to the full cost of tuition. Financial aid awards are offered to families whose ability to pay school costs is extremely limited, and also to those of more substantial means who may need only a modesty subsidy to meet our tuition requirements.
  • Admission applications are read without regard for a family's ability to pay. Only the final phase of the selection process is "need aware" as the Admission committee weighs its decisions against available funds.

Invest in your child's future at Peddie.

With the rising costs of education, it is more important than ever to make sure your investment in your child's high school education will pay off. So, why invest in a Peddie education? Here's why:

Learning is cool here

Your student will be surrounded by friends who care about school. Everyone at Peddie is excited about learning and motivated to succeed. We attract students looking for an educational environment that fosters experiential learning, builds critical thinking skills, and encourages innovation.

Attention and access galore

With a student/teacher ratio of 6:1 and an average class size of 12, your child will receive plenty of individualized attention. Plus, 90% of our faculty live on campus, so the conversation extends beyond the classroom to the dormitory, playing field, stage and dinner table.

Academics, of course

Peddie's academic philosophy and curriculum shine. We take our students further than they think they can go, and work one-on-one with them to plan their personal academic journey. The ease of communication between administrators, teachers and students encourages academic rigor and creativity, so our course offerings are continually evolving and fresh.

Preparation beyond the classroom

A recent TABS (The Association of Boarding Schools) study found that 78% of boarding school graduates felt well prepared for the non-academic aspects of college life – such as independence, social life and time management – compared to 23% of public school students.

Lifelong connections

Once a Falcon, always a Falcon. Our alums speak fondly and often of the lifelong friendships they maintain with classmates and teachers. Our reunions are electric and our classrooms are revolving doors for career alums to step in and share their stories and wisdom. Our community is tight-knit and committed to supporting one another on campus and beyond.
