Merit-Based Scholarships
The Peddie School Merit-Based Scholarship Program awards exceptional students, regardless of financial need. Through the support of our strong alumni engagement and robust endowment, we have contributed over $1.2 million in the last four years to merit awards. Merit recipients are considered for their ability to strengthen all aspects of our community and make the most of their Peddie experience. Peddie School Merit Scholars possess a passion for learning who embody a commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and leadership. Drawn by our mission to identify students distinguished through their excitement, curiosity, and character, Peddie School Merit Scholars come from diverse backgrounds and locations across the United States and around the world.

The Peddie School Merit-Based Scholarship Program includes the following opportunities: The Armellino Scholarship, The Annenberg Scholarship and The Potter Scholarship. These scholarships are open to applicants regardless of financial need. In order to be considered, applicants must submit all necessary application materials to the Peddie School by the January 15th deadline. 

The Armellino Scholarship

Endowed by Trustee Emeritus Michael R. Armellino ’57, this scholarship recognizes students with exceptional academic achievement, demonstrated strength of character, marked intellectual curiosity, and infectious excitement for life. These students will be catalysts for positive action in all realms, involving others for the common good. The Armellino Scholarship, is available only to domestic boarding students, which covers tuition, boarding costs and all required fees, as well as a stipend for travel expenses to and from Peddie during the academic year. An additional stipend for an approved summer Signature Experience is available during the student’s junior year. 

Criteria
Applicants considered for The Armellino Scholarship will:
  • Display exceptional academic achievement and marked intellectual curiosity.
  • Demonstrate strength of character.
  • Exhibit an excitement for life and involvement within one's community.
Requirements/Selection Process
  • To be considered for the Armellino Scholarship, potential recipients are required to submit all application materials by the January 15th deadline.
  • The Scholarship Committee will determine an Armellino Scholarship recipient based on the above criteria and the following selection process.
  • Notification of Armellino Semi-Finalists will be announced via email or phone by the end of January by the Scholarship Committee.
  • Armellino Semi-Finalists will have an additional Skype interview with a Peddie faculty member by the first week of February.
  • Finalists and two guests from each household, will be invited to Peddie School mid-February to celebrate their achievements as Armellino Scholarship Finalists.
  • All Finalists will be guaranteed one of the three available merit-based scholarships and will receive notification of award with their admission decision on March 10th
Eligibility
Open to all new domestic boarding applicants to Peddie who complete the admission application process by January 15th will be considered by the Scholarship Committee. Recipients will be announced with admission decisions on March 10th. Priority will be given to applicants for the ninth grade. The renewal of The Armellino Scholarship is reviewed annually.

The Annenberg Scholarship

Named in honor of Walter H. Annenberg '27, whose philanthropy and commitment to society were unfailing and whose citizenship was exemplary, this scholarship recognizes that applicant who, in the estimation of the scholarship committee, has demonstrated extraordinary qualities of leadership, citizenship and scholarship. The Annenberg scholarship, covers full tuition for an eligible boarding or day student. 

Criteria
Applicants considered for The Annenberg Scholarship will:
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.
  • Present an exemplary record of citizenship.
  • Exhibit the potential for outstanding leadership within the Peddie community and beyond.
Requirements/Selection Process
  • To be considered for this scholarship, potential recipients are required to submit all application materials by the January 15th deadline.
  • No additional materials are required.
  • The Scholarship Committee will determine the Annenberg Scholarship recipients based on the above criteria.
  • The Annenberg Scholarship recipient will receive notification of award with their admission decision on March 10th

The Potter Scholarship

Named in honor of F. Edward Potter, 13th headmaster of Peddie School, these $25,000 scholarships are awarded by the Scholarship Committee to students demonstrating outstanding character combined with an extraordinary academic record.

Criteria

Applicants considered for The Potter Scholarship will:
  • Display outstanding character combined with an extraordinary academic record as demonstrated by teacher recommendations and SSAT scores.
Requirements
  • To be considered for this scholarship, potential recipients are required to submit all application materials by the January 15th deadline.
  • No additional materials are required.
  • The Scholarship Committee will determine Potter Scholarship recipients based on the above criteria.
  • Potter Scholarship recipients will receive notification of award with their admission decision on March 10th
Eligibility
Open to all new applicants to Peddie who complete the admission application requirements by January 15 will be considered by the scholarship committee. Recipients will be announced with admission decisions on March 10. The Potter Scholarship remains fixed for the recipients time at Peddie and the renewal of The Potter Scholarship is reviewed annually for each recipient.
